Moss animal on PVC crappie beds. Called Bryozoa...harmles and Ameren says it is a sign of clean water as it won't grow in poluted water. Just hope Ameren does not require a permit for this stuff growing under my dock...LOL Click on download for pic.

We have them all over our dock too. Saw them for the first time a few years ago. Very odd looking especially growing like that on your crappie bed pipes.

Jack,
What do you want me to say?
I am trying to be a kinder, gentler person.
Do I need to spend more time around you?

A little egg and breading and they go good with sausage.

looks like ham hocks and beans...however, if you are looking for a "pork" free menu. I mean, bryazoa and beans just doesn't have the marketing ring we are looking for here. On the other hand, combine this "thing" with some vodka and cherry flavoring and you have Gina's "jello" shots. I could be wrapped up in some sort of free association moment here...which makes me think of Dan and "teal" and some good times past.

They are toxic as hell.

I had a fish cage that one grew on and I washed it off with a hose but there were still some small remnants on the wire cage. I caught 5 fish and put them in the cage and they all died within an hour.

Smitty, did you forget to put the cage back in the water?

Well, using that logic, fish don't eat "stupid" or the lake would be a lot cleaner and much less populated. Fish don't eat algae much either...well, except for the Asian Carp, and we know where that leads...lots of things fish won't eat...but they are smart whereas people are...?

Read the last sentence

http://www.bio.umass.edu/biology/conn.river/bryozoa.html

After I scrapped and washed the jelly type egg substance and thoroughly hosed off the fish cage I put the fish in it and within an hour they swelled up and turned a spooky looking, blotchy, greyish pale blue.

I'm telling you they are highly toxic. To fish at least.
